Swimming After Hair Transplant Surgery

Swimming After Hair Transplant

Hair transplant is a surgical operation. Therefore, there are things you need to consider after the surgery. One of those things is swimming after hair transplant surgery. If your are planning your hair transplant in summer, you might want to consider spending all summer in a shaded area. Doctors often recommend having the surgery during winter but if you will have it during summer, there are few things you can consider.

During summer in addition to sun, you need to be careful about sea and pool water. Salt particles in sea water and chlorin in pool water might damage your newly transplanted hair. Always wash you hair after swimming. This way, damaging particles will be cleared.

Protecting in Summer

You need to be extremely careful about sunlight during summer. After your hair transplant surgery, you need to protect both donor area and transplanted area from sun. Sun can damage your hair roots and directly impact the success of the operation.

During summer, you must wear a soft hat to protect your transplant area from sun. Sun can damage your hair roots and prevent healthy hair growth. Try to spend the first week indoors. Generally, you can start swimming 2 weeks after the surgery. But most of the doctors recommend waiting at least for month.

Swimming in Sea After Hair Transplant

You need to wait at least 30 days before swimming in sea. It is recommended to wait for 45 days to prevent any negative outcomes. After swimming in the sea, you need to wash you hair with fresh water. If possible, try to avoid contact with sea water up to 60 days.

Swimming in Pool After Hair Transplant

Similar to swimming in the sea, you need to wait at least 30 days before swimming in the pool. After swimming, always wash your hair with fresh water. Chlorine in pool water can greatly damage your newly transplanted hair.
